arquitectum competition for a new venetian bridge on the site of the existing academy bridge. the new 'bridge' is a museum that houses the models produced of venice and acts as an axis entry portal to the rio alto. through the zigzagging pathway over the bridge, the proposal recalls the 'vicoli' of venice ... around every corner a new vista opens. panoramas up and down the canal are frozen in a series of frames ... the cafe, the entry to the museum, the viewing balcony. the golden screen is a mask to the building ... hiding and revealing, as the days become nights. the perforated floor signals the point of entry and the line of passage. it casts a grid of light points onto the water and the passing boats below.
